Nutcracker Performance & A Family Party

This week and weekend continued the craziness of the wonderful season. I think some people think all of the busyness takes away from the spirit of Christmas, and I agree somewhat, but I also love all of the great things we can be part of. Spending time with family, watching our children truly enjoy life, giving to others, etc. I do love reflecting on the real reason we celebrate this wonderful season.

Friday the girls both had parties at school and they are very happy to be on a break for awhile. Ellie's class had a Happy Birthday Jesus party, and Bailey's played games, made crafts and decorated cookies

On Saturday the girls dance studio put on their own version of the Nutcracker. Ellie was one of the soldiers and Bailey one of the angels. They were so excited and really loved being a part of it.

After the performance we headed straight to Oakley for a family party with Ryan's family. We had a great time hanging out and watching the kids with their gifts. Santa stopped by and was of course the star of the show. The girls LOVE their cousins and I think it is awesome that they are already have such great relationships with the them.

The weather was a little scary getting home last night. It took us twice as long as it normally does. The snow is kind of fun this time of year. We are definitely going to enjoy a white Christmas, which always adds to the wonderful spirit of Christmas. We hope everyone drives safe and has a very Merry Christmas!!

Poop on Santa, Missing Tooth, and A Christmas Program

Last night we went to the mall so the kids could see Santa. It was crazy and hectic to get out the door, why is doing something fun not easy?, the mall wasn't to busy which was nice and we only waited for Santa for a few minutes. As our turn was drawing near I was holding Logan and I felt a little rumble in his pants. He pooped right before we left so I figured it was just a little gas. The girls ran into to Santa and I went to sit Logan on his lap too. As I was passing him over I caught a wiff of him, not pleasant, oh well snap a quick photo. Photo turns out pretty cute, wish they would have worn more Christmasy clothes but whatever, pick up Logan so the girls can talk to Santa. Notice that Santa has a little orangish greenish "stuff" on his suit, oh that can't be, oh but it is, poo leaking out of the bottom of Logan's pants. What to do, what to do?? Do nothing, let girls talk to Santa, tell Ryan that Logan pooped on Santa, run for bathroom holding Logan out in front of me. Take Logan into nasty public restroom, pants and one sock are dirty, shirt and onsie are okay. Hum...what do I have in the diaper bag oh good pants, navy same as what he was wearing, oh wait they are 0-3 months, okay so shorts, coldest day of the year, whatever. No socks in diaper bag but brown sandals, been wondering where those were.... Wrap Logan in my coat, go find family at McDonald's, put Logan back in car seat wrap blanket and jacket around him, no one can see he has no socks on and shorts...aka white trash. Remind myself to restock diaper bag with season appropriate and proper fitting clothing. Good news..... girls loved seeing Santa, Ellie asked for a Webkin and Bailey told him to surprise her. Yes, I did look back on this and feel sad for the next kids that see Santa and may possibly walk away with a small amount of a orangish greenish substance on them, but I did not think of this at the time. The only reaction was to get out and get out now. Poor Santa, poor kids who saw Santa later. I am sorry. Merry Christmas!!

In other news, Bailey FINALLY lost her first tooth. Her two bottom permanent teeth were growing in behind her baby teeth, making the baby teeth only kind of loose and looking like they were never going to come out. I was planning on taking her to see Ryan next week and just have him yank them out. Which totally made her freak out. We were going to see some Christmas lights with some friends from our ward, when we got there Bailey got out of her seat belt and Ryan was still pulling up, he hit the brakes and she went flying. Result, face slammed against the center console .......lots of crying....... then tears of joy........ the tooth got knocked out. Yea! We really are white trash. Hopefully the other one comes out soon. Maybe she will still need to get that one pulled. The tooth fairy did visit and she is one dollar richer.

On Monday Ellie had her preschool Christmas program. They did a good job. Since she goes to a Christan preschool most of the songs were focused on Jesus. It was pretty cute. There was one little girl in Ellie's class that was pretty much screaming the songs the whole time. It was funny, but I am glad that it wasn't my kid doing the screaming. Her class sang 12 Little Angels, Away in A Manger, and Christmas Morning. Ellie was a little shy at first but warmed up a little towards the end.

This time of year is crazy but it is filled with lots of great memories!! I do love Christmas!

Little Elves

Last night we had our ward party. I thought the kids looked cute all dressed in red so I snapped a photo. Notice the red tights on the girls. You can sort of see the cut down tree in the background, it actually turned out really well. I was happy with it, especially for 5 bucks. After the ward party the girls were getting ready for bed and Ellie took off her skirt and started doing a little dance. I told her she looked like an elf. Well they both of course thought this was hilarious and did little dances and pretend to make toys for the next 20 minutes.

Hot Glue and a Wungie

I have decided that I think hot glue is one of the greatest inventions ever. I have been using it a lot the last couple days for various projects. Little Nativity's for our primary kids, hats for Ellie's dance class Nutcracker performance, to fix Bailey's shoe and to make her Christmas tree for school etc etc. Seriously what a handy invention. Yes, the tips of my fingers are a little burned but I have accomplished much.

Today Ellie said.....

"mom do you know what a wungie is"

Me: " a wungie

Ellie: "yeah a wuuuungie"

Me: "no Ellie I don't know what a wungie is"

Ellie:"its something you scrub your body with"

Me: "interesting I haven't heard of that"

Ellie: "yeah its like a squeegee but for your body"

Me: "laughing, quite hard"

So if your sick of the everyday towel after a shower, look for a wungie it may be on the market soon. Silly girl! She can be kind of naughty sometimes, but she does crack me up!

6 Months

Logan has been 6 months for a couple of weeks, but he just had his doctors appointment today. He is growing up, here are his 1/2 year stats:

• Weight: 16 pounds


• Length: 27 inches


• Head: 17 inches

He wasn't busting off the charts, and she was actually a little concerned about his head circumference percentage. So we are going to boost up his milk a little and take him back in 6 weeks just to make sure he is following his growth curve. I am not to worried, he seems very healthy. He loves to eat cereal, oatmeal is his favorite, he loves squash and bananas. He has mastered the army crawl and loves to get in the yoga down dog position. He gets up on all fours like he wants to crawl but hasn't quite done it yet. He makes this piratey growling sound that we all think is hilarious, and has recently discovered the "d" sound. He kind of says da da, but I think he is just babbling. We are so happy he is part of our family!

Thanksgiving

We had a good Thanksgiving, it was great hanging out with everyone and taking a break from the day to day stuff. We had dinner with Ryan's family at his Dad's house. The kids loved playing with their cousins and we all enjoyed some great food. The next day my sister in laws and I hit the Black Friday craziness on only 3 hours of sleep. It was so worth it, we found great deals but more than anything we had a great time. I need to get the picture from Mindy of all of our stuff crammed in the back of Julie's Yukon. Good times!! Saturday we thought it would be fun to head into the mountains to cut down a Christmas tree. Aaron was a great sport and came with us to show us where to go and help Ryan cut it down. The guys had fun pushing our car to its limits, Bailey loved running around looking for the perfect tree, Ellie stayed in the car with Logan continually asking if we could just buy a tree at the store. We did find a tree I don't think it is the most perfect tree out there, but it turned out great now that it is all decorated. The kids love it so that is all that matters, oh and the fact that it cost 5 bucks (just for the permit)! I am excited for the Christmas season and to finish getting all of the decorations up.

This is the tree but we only ended up without about half of it because there was really two trees growing together. I will post a finished photo of it later. There is still to much junk on the floor around it that I can't take a picture. I wouldn't want to give you a glimpse of how I really live most of the time :)
